How It Started

From One Mower to Nashville's Favorite Lawn Team

In 2014, Marcus Thompson was frustrated. As a homeowner in Brentwood, he'd hired and fired four lawn companies in two years — crews that showed up late, used products that left his dog sick, and never called back when something went wrong. He figured he could do better.

Marcus quit his job in logistics, enrolled in the University of Tennessee's turf management program, and launched GreenScape Pro from his garage with a single commercial mower and a borrowed trailer. His first five clients were neighbors on his street.

Within two years, word-of-mouth had grown the business to 200+ clients. Today GreenScape Pro employs 14 full-time crew members, serves 1,800+ Nashville-area homes and businesses, and holds a 4.9-star rating on Google. The garage is now a proper facility in South Nashville — but the values haven't changed one bit.

10 Years of Growth

2014

The Beginning

Marcus launches GreenScape Pro with 1 mower, 1 trailer, and 5 neighbors as clients. Works 7 days a week from sunup to sundown.

2016

First Crew Hired

200+ clients. First two employees hired. Moved from residential garage to a commercial shop space in South Nashville. BBB accreditation achieved.

2018

Eco-Friendly Pivot

Fully transitioned all treatments to eco-certified, pet-safe formulas. Partnered with Tennessee Wildlife Federation. Became EPA Smart Water Program partner.

2020

Irrigation Division Launched

Hired Derek Wilson and launched a dedicated irrigation installation department. Completed 80+ irrigation installs in the first year alone.

2022

1,000th Customer

Celebrated our 1,000th active customer milestone. Launched the customer portal app for real-time scheduling, service history, and photo reports.

2024

Nashville's #1 Rated

Reached 1,800+ active clients, 14 full-time employees, and a 4.9-star Google rating. Named Nashville's Best Lawn Care Company by Nashville Scene readers.
